Dad's Hobby

Tara and Kenny started their own Karate and Jiu Jiutsu Studio in January this year. It's been so incredible. The building needed a full overhaul, including a new wall. Thanks to Jason's handy-ness he was able to get most of it done, or he found someone he knew who could do the jobs he couldn't. The studio is now fully up and running and Karate is Tuesday and Thursday, Jiu Jitsu on Monday and Wednesday. Kenny had been teaching Jiu Jitsu before for about 2 years, but now he gets to teach in a commercial studio. The sign-ups have been great, and the little kids Jiu Jitsu class is filling up fast! Kurt Crum teaches alongside Kenny as the head instructor with a Purple Belt in Jiu Jitsu.
{These photos are from after the new wall was built, and electrical, pluming repair. Before sub-floor, paint and other cleaning and repairs.}

 These photos are from mid-way completion. This was after the major construction, paint, sub-floor, etc. Still left to do was floor padding, mats, mirrors were almost done, and we still had to do the pro shop area, and the plaques on the walls.

Most of you know that Kenny's been doing Jiu Jitsu for years. He's a blue belt and he really enjoys it. (I don't quite understand how he can love it so much when he comes home covered in bruises and there's even been some black eyes!) He's trained with some really great studios across the Valley (Throwdown and Legion Jiu Jitsu under Cameron Diffley) and he's currently training at Epic under Fredson.

I've never had the opportunity to take pictures of Kenny when he rolls, but with the new studio, I popped in to take a couple.... these are all instruction and practice of moves that he was teaching the class....
