Las Vegas Natural History Museum

Kallin's Preschool had a "field trip" {except with preschool the parents bring their own kids} and we went!
It was awesome! Seriously, I felt so dumb that I had NO idea that we had a Natural History Museum! I know about Lied Children's Museum, I know about Springs Preserve (though my kids and I haven't been there). This was so great for Kallin. They have water/sea exhibits, Egypt exhibit, Dinosaur exhibit, Africa exhibit, Nevada desert exhibit, a Rock/Mineral exhibit, and an Animal exhibit. It really was so fun for Kallin. Check it out...

Dinosaur Exhibit
First, you should know that when we went in the Dino room at first, Kallin was scared. I mean really freaked! I think he thought they could move and might try to get him like on Dino Dan. He was really shy. The above photo of him by the rail, that was torture to take! Cause right behind him is the dino below, actally one of Kallin's favorites, Triceratops. The dinosaurs moved, and would animate sounds. It was really cool. Kallin was really worried, and he made me hold him. So I held Kallin, and pushed the stroller, all the while helping him warm up to the cool Allosaurus. He eventually came around, though not at that time. We had to walk through twice more to get to the elevator, that was helpful in him warming up. Then I showed him that the T-Rex couldn't roar unless you pushed the button, that helped a ton. We ended up going back at the end of our tour and making a donation and staying longer. The Dino room was a HIT on our last circulation.

Pushing the button to make the T-Rex roar!
{See how the mouth is more open on the second picture? He raises his head and opens his mouth to roar, which is why I think in the beginning Kallin was nervous with him}
Digging for fossils!

Water/Sea Exhibit

The Sting Ray pool
{no touching here unlike Shark Reef}

Animal Exhibits

Egypt Exhibit
Laying in the Egyption house.
Grinding Corn

This was really cool, slightly icky too. You run that "x-ray" across the mummy and you can switch it to 1 2 or 3 and see the levels of decay that a mummy went through.
Trying his hand at a way of carpentry back in Egypt... He was pretty good.

Oh, and in closing, I saw this really cool car.
Reminded me of G. Paul, and him driving the "thing". Love you Paul!
