Kauai Hawaii

Welcome to paradise.
Thank you very much, I think I'll kick back for a while...
Poolside (adult "quiet" pool today...)
On another lounge day, we faced the sandy beach, and read books... and I took a nap...

We did see some of the island...
Including the tree tunnel..... which was on the way to our resort... we got to drive it many times...
{run! car is coming!}

Our Resort... (heaven, yes.)

Hammock Love... and discovering Kenny forgot his sunglasses...
Going to the Spouting Horn
I'm not going to sugar coat it... it's pretty small (like 15 feet? on a good spray.)

Dinner at so many delicious places I gained 10 lbs in less than a week... (pictured is Roy's)
Food from Roy's
Some MORE great places to eat...
 Keoki's
RED SALT (breakfast) --they also have an amazing dinner.
 Tide Pools (at the Hyatt)
Keoki's {again} It's the Hula Pie... we can't stay away!
 DELICIOUS Puka Dogs!
Sunrise...
THE most amazing thing, the sunrise is reflected on the clouds across, so it really seems like 2 beautiful sunrises...
We went on an early morning stroll, and found this special big guy taking a snooze...
And some fossils... And a washed up sea slug...
As we explored, this local told us a story....
There is a romantic local legend about a girl who fell in love with her childhood friend. That boy also fell in love with her. After some time, the boy decided to go to her father and ask to marry her. The king denied him her hand telling her "you are not good enough for my daughter." He then sent him away to live high in the mountians.
According to legend... there is a special flower, up high in the mountians, waiting for his perfect princess. The girl that completes his heart. The two halves make a whole...
Seeing the NORTH side of the island...
BIG WAVES. No swimming.
Fresh Coconut...
Life of a plant. What do you do when you run out of places to grow... just put roots down the mountain side...
The DRY caves
Lunch in Princeville.
My favorite dish in Hawaii... Ahi Poke.
QUEENS BATH
On our hike to Queens Bath (above), we were told there was NO SWIMMING today. The waves were still extremely rough. And we decided to continue down to see for ourselves. It was true, there was no swimming in Queens Bath (unless you had a death wish) but it was beautiful none-the-less.
Yep, see, people actually died. 28 people.
{waterfall near Queen's Bath}
Crabs everywhere!
QUEEN'S BATH
Here, it looks calm, and almost "swimmable" but, then, the waves roll in....
The run off from Queen's Bath went from this...
After seeing Queen's Bath, we kept walking, and saw more crashing waves, it was incredible!

We decided one night to WALK to dinner, no biggie, right? Well, we didn't calculate it, and it turns out it was 2.5 miles. Quite the walk. While walking, we did get to see the sunset...
And some wickedly awesome trees... and even a waterfall...

And after arriving at the resturant, we were told it was reservation only. I had her put us on the wait list, and miraculously, we were seated 15 minutes later!

On this, yet another particularly beautiful day, we decided to sit facing the ocean, with the shallow pool behind us, it made for wonderful reading while hearing the ocean... bliss! A day we spent reading, relaxing, and snorkeling.

Panoramic view of "our spot" for the day, taken with my iPhone
What we spent most of our trip doing... lounging in the sun.
 Toes in the sand
 A beautiful Sunset in Hawaii

And one last panoramic... till next time Kauai...
