I've been
crazy into
Green Smoothies lately.
I drink at least
2 a day and
sometimes more!
I love them, they give me nutrient boost that I couldn't possibly eat in a day. And they taste great (well, I think so!). I am feeling
lighter, both body weight and in that dragging-tired feeling that used to follow me around. I have so much more energy when I drink them, and I feel SO GOOD. My digestive track is all regulated out, and I feel
detoxed. I really really really love them. Some days when I'm in a rush, I'll eat a little breakfast, but be sure to have a full green smoothie. Or for the mid-day meals (you know, cause we're all supposed to be eating 5x a day..) I'll drink one of these.
Everyone's been asking me how I make them... well, here's how.
I use my
VitaMix. It's a great blender, really. I honestly LOVE IT. We've even made ice cream in it. It's awesome.
I fill my blender with greens. I cram as much Spinach, Kale, and Collard Greens as I can.
Then I put just a bit of water in it. (like 2 inches in the bottom) Then I blend the greens till it's smooth and there's no more chunks.
I add my fruits. Handful of Grapes, handful of Blueberries, 1 Orange, 4-6 Strawberries (depending on size) --green tops and all!, and some Ginger root- about 1 inch.
Add fresh fruit to greens and blend. I increase the speed to 10 pretty quickly, then I run it on HIGH speed for about 1 minute. (or till I think it's all broken down)
Then I add a big cup of ice, and a frozen banana. (When I use a fresh banana I add it with the fruit above. I just choose what's easy for that moment.)
Blend till smooth, no more ice chunks.
And there's my day's worth of Green Smoothie.
It's not fancy, it's not in a cool special cup. It's just my daily drink. I try to make a lot cause Corinne & Kenny love them too and I don't like to share, so I make a completely full blender, so there's some for all!
See my straw,
best ever. It's a
Slurpee straw from 7/11! It's aluminum so it keeps the smoothie cold. It's great! And it's big around so you can really drink it, no tiny straw for me anymore!
